DELFT - BORDERS & CORNERS

Border tiles add a perfect finishing touch, defining a panel within a larger area of tiling or enlivening an area of plain tiles. A frieze of border tiles or a frame made with border tiles used in conjunction with either our plain or corner decorated tiles is a simple but very effective way to make a statement. We offer here a selection of borders and corners suitable for using with our delft collection. Should you wish to make a more individual statement, we are happy to discuss your requirements.

Our border and corner tiles work both visually and practically. A border can make an excellent way of defining an area of tiling whether a landscape or a patterned wall, and it makes a frame to finish and complement a tiled panel. The use of a border in a panel enables tiling to look good in awkward areas, holding the design together.

We make different size border and corner tiles; 6.5 cm. x 13 cm. (2.5” x 5”) and 4.3 cm. x 13 cm. (1.6” x 5”) to complement our 13 cm. (5”) hand-made tiles. Borders are particularly useful where a space to be tiled does not work out to whole tile measurements. With the use of the correct size border the panel can be made to fit exactly.

Although we have standard border and corner designs in our collection, we are very happy to work with our clients to personalise an installation with a new border design. This service is often useful when tiling fire surrounds within fireplace mantle pieces.

Border tiles can also be important when working in small and confined spaces. An example of this is when working with vanity units or small washbasins where only a few tiles are needed. Careful placement of a border around a small tiled area can make the few tiles needed for the panel into a positive statement. A border used as a frieze in a wall of plain tiles makes a decorative impression for little cost and raises the tile installation above the purely functional.
