This collection of Angels and Cherubs hand-painted delft tiles is inspired by seventeenth century Dutch examples. Shown here are twelve charming angels and cherubs images, and one, 'Cherubs with a heart' shows a banner that can be personalised with a name if desired. All are available in both cobalt blue and manganese magenta. This group of very traditional delft tiles is perfect to use for a fire surround or mantelpiece area.

Angels, cherubs, monks and biblical stories have always featured on blue and white and manganese traditional delft tiles. Historic scenes, whether actual or mythical, have adorned tiling for centuries. Putti or cherubs have been used to add charm and humour to many decorative tile schemes.
Tiles showing angels and cherubs began appearing in Holland in the early part of the seventeenth century. They were often playful, light-hearted scenes showing mischievous cherubs. Later biblical tiles illustrating stories from the Old Testament were so beautifully painted that they are now perceived as miniature works of art. Delft tiles showing biblical scenes were extremely popular in Holland's protestant farming communities and many thousands were produced in potteries throughout Holland from Utrecht to Amsterdam, Harelum to Makkum. We have put together twelve charming angels and cherubs images, and one, 'Cherubs with a heart' shows a banner that can be personalised with a name.
