Francis Ceramics specialises in creating works of art on tiling. We offer standard mural designs for installation in showers, behind Agas, etc., or we will work with you to bring to life what you have in mind. Murals can be based on a whole variety of themes, landscapes, fruit or flower urns, figures or an abstract design. The style of painting can also be adapted to the client's preference; for example, a landscape may be represented in a classical manner in blue and white or perhaps in an impressionist style in polychrome.

Francis Ceramics offers a bespoke hand-painted mural service that can be adapted to clients' needs, both in terms of design and the area to be tiled. We can pre-cut tiles to suit any awkward shape or to work with any architectural detail. After cutting to size, we then glaze and decorate and this means that all edges of the tiles are glazed leaving no unsightly sharp cut edge to be seen in the final installation. The added bonus is that little or no on-site cutting is required.
Murals can be painted in any size, whether four tiles or thousands. They can be illustrative, such as a landscape, a collection of figures, perhaps an arrangement of fruit, or maybe a fantasy or abstract design.
A mural panel illustrating an arrangement of flowers could be painted in blue and white or in multi coloured polychrome, whichever might suit your requirements. All murals can be personalised to fit an awkward space or perhaps to fit behind a range, such as an Aga or Rayburn. Niches for wood-burning stoves or fireplace surrounds are also suitable for tiling in mural format. Bathroom tiles, splash backs, swimming pools or a wall in a garden can also be enhanced with a mural. Exterior murals provide the opportunity of adding an unusual embellishment to offset other garden features or plants.
We are situated in Pembrokeshire, West Wales and if you are not able to visit the studio, it is easy to work with us from a distance. The commissioning process works as follows. Initially, we discuss with a client their needs and desires. At this point we produce working drawings for the customerís consideration, unless we are selecting from standard designs. These drawings are starting points to rough out ideas and are used for the next discussion point. At the second discussion, we make adjustments and additions to the designs where needed. On agreement, a final scale drawing is made showing any architectural details to be worked with. Samples of glazed and decorated tiles can be supplied for a clientís perusal in order to agree which glaze and colour decoration is to be used and a nominal charge is made for this service.
