Francis Ceramics' understanding of glazes and painting techniques puts the company in a perfect position to be able to assist clients who need to either replace an existing installation with tiling as close to the original as possible, or to provide further tiling to blend in with what can be salvaged from the original installation. A recent project in an old farmhouse in southern France was to make tiles to match some old ones found on the property. Using our crackle glaze, we were able to make a good reproduction and this meant that the salvaged original tiling could be used alongside our carefully researched tiles to restore the authentic atmosphere of the property. Call us to discuss your project.

We offer a service to make reproductions of lost or broken tiles. On assessment of a representative sample, it is often possible for us to create replacements.
We have worked with architects and interior designers on various restoration projects, including period bathroom tiles, early French kitchen tiles, 1930s shower room tiles, 1920s faux marble tiles, seventeenth and eighteenth century blue and white delft tiles and seventeenth century Dutch polychrome tiles.
Most early seventeenth and eighteenth century tiles are 13cm. (5in) square and this is the size we usually work on, however it is possible for us to provide other tile sizes. We are also able to customise the overall shape of the tiles to be installed in order for the tiling to fit the installation space exactly without the need for cutting on site.
If you have a restoration project where you need to either replace an existing installation or if you wish to add to tiles already installed, we will be happy to review this and to let you know how we may be of help.
